About the Estimates

Total Project Cost Calculation:

  • The calculator figures out the cost based on the rates and quantities provided for each type of tree or bush.
  • Each selected hazard adds 10% to the total bill to account for the extra complexity and time needed for the job.

Estimated Time of Completion:

    • The calculator estimates the total time required to complete the job based on the number and type of trees or bushes.
    • Time estimates are calculated as follows:
      • Bush/Hedge: Approximately 0.5 hours per unit.
      • Small Tree (under 20ft): Approximately 1 hour per unit.
      • Medium Tree (20-40ft): Approximately 2 hours per unit.
      • Large Tree (40-60ft): Approximately 3 hours per unit.
      • Extra Large Tree (60ft+): Approximately 4 hours per unit.

The cost and time estimates are based on industry averages and my experience with tree and bush trimming services. These values help you understand the level of effort and expenses involved, providing transparency and allowing you to plan your project effectively.

When in doubt, I always suggest padding your profit when offering these services. The expected salary for an arborist is around $30 an hour before benefits and taxes. These are dangerous projects if you don’t have someone with the right skills and tools for the job. From an hourly perspective you’ll want to be charging $100 – $200 per hour minimum for this type of skilled work.
